Wheelchair Repair Clinic
Annual event helps individuals who cannot financially afford the following for their wheelchair:
- repair
- tune-up
- general maintenance services
Stroke Recovery Canada
- A network of survivors of stroke and caregivers that provides support and education
- Meet monthly on the 4th Tuesday at the 55+ Centre on River Street
- Conduct community presentations in hospitals and other venues to introduce the network
- Link to community recreation activities
Post Polio Chapter
Support the community by providing:
- education and information updates
- help with medical consultations
- related medical contacts for polio survivors
Information & Referral Services
- Educate the community about disability issues and services
- Provide consultation services to consumers on accessibility issues
Emergency Clothing Assistance
Assists:
- Persons with extreme financial limitations
- Victims of violence, theft, fire, flood
Regional Camping Program
- Offers consumers an opportunity to participate in a camping experience at Wilderness Discovery
- Campers are able to stay in fully accessible cabins and enjoy swimming, hiking, fishing and other outdoor activities
Assistive Devices Program
Helps adults with disabilities to obtain devices to meet mobility and communication needs by:
- making purchases or repairing devices
- sale of gently used devices
- brokering of prescribed devices
DesignAbility
- Skilled volunteers design and create solutions that are not available elsewhere
- Volunteers with skills in woodworking, electrical, metalworking, engineering and other trades/skills areas are always needed
- Project requests from the community are always welcome
Crisis Intervention
Support to victims of:
- home fires
- abuse
- poverty
We provide:
- clothes
- living essentials
- referral assistance in accessing additional supports
